7/16/2025 - Server Performance Degradation - Resource Allocation Investigation - DT <15min

I'm currently dealing with a performance issue caused by VM resource allocation bottlenecks on the main server that provides media streaming services. The investigation revealed that the virtual machine was severely under-provisioned relative to the available hardware capacity, causing transcoding performance issues and user buffering problems. Resolution Plan

1. Immediate: Shutdown VM for resource reallocation

2. Configuration Changes:

   • Increase Virtual CPUs to 40

   • Increase Cores to 20

   • Increase Memory to 128GB

   • Enable CPU pinning for performance

3. Validation: Test transcoding capacity and user experience

4. Monitoring: Implement ongoing performance tracking Server down: 7:15 EST Service restored at: 7:25pm EST
